Quinoa is high in protein and fibre and is also gluten-free. It contains all nine essential amino acids, a quality that is hard to find in any plant-based product. Many people call quinoa a grain, however technically it's a seed, which can be prepared in a similar fashion to grain or cereal. Originally from South America, it has always been called the mother of all grains. No wonder - it's high in essential minerals like iron and magnesium, extremely high in antioxidants and perfect for people with gluten intolerance.

Let's focus on today's recipe: A Warm Quinoa Breakfast Bowl.
A quinoa bowl is the perfect breakfast meal for a healthy diet. It is sugar-free, gluten-free, vegan and not to mention, filling, keeping you satisfied till lunch time. You also have the freedom to add different types of liquids to flavour your quinoa. A quinoa bowl is a perfect recipe for a healthy diet. It's sugar-free, gluten-free, vegan and will keep you satisfied throughout your day. You can jazz it up with different flavours using a stock of your choice, coconut milk or keep it simple with water.
Choose your favourite toppings for your bowl to make it your very own healthy comfort food in the morning. We’ve used coconut milk in this recipe but feel free to use any other ingredients to make your own bespoke Quinoa Breakfast Bowl.
So, let's get started!
Warm Quinoa Coconut Breakfast Bowl
For the quinoa bowl:
1/2 cup uncooked quinoa rinsed, drained
1 cup coconut milk*
1 tablespoon cinnamon
For the topping:
2 tablespoons coconut flakes
2 tablespoons sliced almonds
Date syrup or other sweetener of choice such as maple syrup (Optional)
3 tablespoons yoghurt**
*SIDE TIP 1:
If you want to try a lighter version, just use 1/2 cup coconut milk + 1/2 cup water or any other milk of choice
**SIDE TIP 2:
You can make your very own yoghurt with the NeoChefTM as well. Just use the "yoghurt" button on the NeoChefTM and follow the instructions in the manual.
1. Wash the uncooked quinoa, rinse and drain it, put it into a bowl and mix it with the coconut milk.
2. Treat quinoa as if you are cooking rice. Use the Auto cooking mode 2-7 in NeoChefTM and weight the quinoa. For 150g, the time is already set for 20min to soften the texture.
3. While you are waiting, mash one half of a banana.
4. Add 1 tbs of cinnamon and mix it together.
5. When quinoa is ready, add 4 into the quinoa bowl and blend everything in.
6. Now you’ll see if you need more liquid or not. If it’s too sticky for your taste, feel free to add a little bit of water. After that, all that’s left are your toppings.
7. Slice the other half of the banana and put it into the quinoa bowl together with coconut flakes and sliced almonds.
Top it with some yoghurt and date syrup if you want it a little sweeter. And that’s all the magic behind this yummy Quinoa Coconut Breakfast Bowl.
